What it is

Dental veneers, known in Brazil as "contact lenses" for teeth, are ultra-thin porcelain shells applied over the tooth surface. They improve the shape of worn teeth, provide good aesthetics and allow small diastemas - the gaps between teeth - to be closed. They can change a smile markedly and help with self-confidence.

The material used today is lithium disilicate, considerably stronger than traditional porcelains. Because it is stronger, the technique can be carried out in a range of thicknesses, including extremely thin ones.

Indications

They are indicated for patients whose teeth have an unsuitable shape, an unwanted colour, an irregular size, or that need their position corrected.

In other words, they meet almost any need for aesthetic change to the teeth, with the advantage that preparation is light - or even unnecessary - and confined to the front of the tooth, on the labial surface.
